Newton’s Grove School has moved to its permanent location at 6850 Goreway Drive, just in time for the 2017-2018 school year! While Newton’s Grove is new to the Malton Community, the school has been inspiring young minds for the past four decades! Newton’s Grove School is a state-of-the-art facility with incredible green space, nestled adjacent to more than 100 acres of Paul Coffey Park.
Newton’s Grove School, previously named Mississauga Private School, was the first private school in Mississauga. Founded in 1977, the school is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year!
Newton’s Grove is a student-focused school with a growing population of approximately 300 students. The school follows the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, offering inquiry based courses from JK through Grade 12. Newton’s Grove offers small class sizes, and well-rounded programming in academics, athletics and the arts. Students can also take advantage of a signature music program and after school music lessons.
Newton’s Grove School is committed to developing student athletes and encouraging active involvement in sports, in addition to healthy, active living. The athletic program at Newton’s Grove includes a high level of student participation in both varsity sports and intramural programs. In the near future, the school will be starting construction on a cutting-edge athletic center, which encompasses a large double gymnasium. Further benefits of the school building include natural lighting, vibrant colours, open common areas, a large wrap around playground patio and a spacious school-yard, just to name a few.
At Newton’s Grove School, the faculty is committed to providing a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment where students can come together and grow together. The experienced staff are dedicated to delivering a dynamic program that gives students the tools they need to be successful. The faculty’s devotion to student success extends outside of regular school hours to support academic skills and enhance their learning. At Newton’s Grove, the goal is to engage and inspire every student to be a life-long learner and creative thinker!
Newton’s Grove backs onto an incredible 100 acres of greenspace and parkland. The greenspace, formally named Wildwood Park, has been newly named the Paul Coffey Park. The park offers extensive playing fields including two baseball diamonds, three soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, bocce courts and a cricket pitch. The park is also surrounded by walking trails and children’s play areas, as well as two sheltered picnic areas. The school is steps away from the Paul Coffey Arena, not to mention the recently unveiled Castle Playground. This eagerly anticipated play castle opened to the public this September!
School Director Gabrielle Bush spent much of her childhood in Malton and is thrilled to bring Newton’s Grove to the thriving Malton community. Her connection to Malton extends to Wildwood Park, a place she often visited as a child. Mrs. Bush and the school community have joined the mission to uphold Malton as a clean, revitalized, and vibrant place for young people in the area. This includes working closely with the Malton community to further develop community programs in the Paul Coffey Park. Additionally, Mrs. Bush is very passionate about filling the need for more youth programs in the area.
